Embark on a flavourful grassroots “Foodie Walk”; a discovery of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Stone Town through its food history The tour starts off at Forodhani Gardens for a briefing of the tour drawing from Zanzibar’s eclectic food heritage.
This tour features a walk through the narrow winding streets of Stone Town, discovering the archipelago’s rich food culture, which has drawn influences from the Portuguese who brought the staple ‘boflo bread’, the Omani/Yemeni who introduced their coffee served at many ‘coffee corners’, the Indians who came with their ‘bhajia & kachori’ from Gujarat, that is now a staple part of the ‘Zanzibar Urojo mix’ and much more.The highlight of the tour is ofcourse in the tasting of the various foods at ‘local joints’; where one learns of Zanzibar’s heritage right in the middle of the buzzing old town.

The tour will start off at Forodhani Garden for briefing over traditional coffee with some sweet snacks to go them whilst looking over the Indian Ocean. As the tour commences, your guide will uncover the truth behind the various food influences in Zanzibar.
