Amalfi. The gem of Amalfi is the oldest of Italy’s maritime republics. Whitewashed homes dotting the hillside are illuminated by the abundant sunshine that bathes the city. The basilica’s cupola is a reference to the Sicilian-Arabic influence that once dominated the area. For centuries it has been a popular destination due to its natural beauty and ideal climate.
