Khajuraho is approximately 600 km from Delhi. The direct train journey takes around 8 hours, with trains departing from New Delhi Railway Station and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station.
October to March is the best window. Daytime temperatures stay between 15°C and 25°C, ideal for both outdoor temple tours and morning jungle safaris. Panna National Park remains closed from July 1 to September 30 during the monsoon, so plan accordingly.
Panna is one of India's Project Tiger reserves. After local extinction in 2009, tigers were successfully reintroduced, and the park now hosts a healthy population of Bengal Tigers along with leopards, sloth bears, and over 200 bird species.
The Khajuraho Group of Monuments was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. The temples were built between 950 and 1050 CE by the Chandela dynasty.
The standard tour includes reserved AC Chair Car seating on direct Delhi–Khajuraho trains. Upgrades to AC Executive Class and other higher classes can also be arranged on request.
The pace is moderate, the safari is conducted by jeep (not on foot), and the temple visits involve flat walking with optional rest breaks. The train journey is comfortable and avoids long road transfers.
Wear light cotton clothes for daytime, carry a light jacket for the early morning safari, comfortable walking shoes for the temples, sunscreen, sunglasses, a refillable water bottle, and binoculars for the jungle safari.
