What to expect

  1. Pacoche Wildlife Refuge
    1h 30m · Admission ticket included
We will take you from Manta to the Pacoche Wildlife Refuge, which is situated 300 meters above sea level and boasts a scenic route. During the mid-year dry season, you can observe the striking transformation of the vegetation from dry gray to lush green, making for a remarkable sight.

Here, you’ll embark on an incredible 1 to 1.5-hour walk through the forest with a knowledgeable nature guide and your English-speaking tour guide. Marvel at the exotic flora and fauna, including incredible wildlife like howler monkeys, and learn about the refuge’s unique ecosystem.
  2. 1h
Afterward is a great time to explore the coastal protected area. Our itinerary includes a trip to Cape San Lorenzo and a beautiful strand of beach, a crucial nesting site for endangered sea turtle species.

After this informative visit, we’ll hike up the hill along the lighthouse path and take some rest at the roofed viewpoints. From these spots, we can enjoy breathtaking views of the surroundings and witness seabirds flying around or, if we are lucky, admire blue-footed boobies resting on the cliffside. From June to September, we might even spot humpback whales breaching in the Pacific Ocean.
