Upon her marriage to Bosnian heir Stjepan Tomašević in 1459, Jelena Branković brought the relics of St. Luke, purchased by Đurađ Branković from the Ottomans in 1453 for 30,000 ducats. Stjepan Tomašević was crowned here in 1461. Later, during Ottoman rule in 1528, this church was converted into a mosque named after Sultan Suleiman I. It suffered multiple fires, the last in 1832, leaving only its walls.
