Perfect Day Trip to Ubud

1. Tegenungan Waterfall
   1h
Tegenungan is not as remote as some other waterfalls in Bali, but that’s part of its charm. It’s easily accessible yet still feels like a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the island. Whether you’re looking for a bit of adventure or just a serene place to unwind, Tegenungan Waterfall is a must-visit spot that will leave you refreshed and inspired by the beauty of Bali’s natural landscape.
2. Tegallalang
   1h
One of the best ways to experience Tegallalang is by walking along the narrow paths that wind through the paddies. Each step brings a new perspective, and as you get higher, the view becomes even more breathtaking. If you're up for it, you can also stop at one of the many small cafes along the way for a fresh coconut or a cup of Bali’s famous coffee while taking in the incredible scenery.

Tegallalang is not just a place to snap beautiful photos (though it’s perfect for that too!); it’s a place to slow down and appreciate the simple beauty of life. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the most stunning landscapes are the ones shaped by the hands of people working in harmony with nature. If you're ever in Ubud, make sure you take the time to visit Tegallalang and soak in the magic of this iconic Balinese gem.
3. Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
   1h
Ubud Monkey Forest is one of those places that combines nature, culture, and a bit of adventure all in one. Nestled in the heart of Ubud, this lush sanctuary is home to hundreds of long-tailed macaques, but it’s much more than just a spot to see monkeys. The forest is also a deeply spiritual place for the locals, housing ancient temples and statues that are intertwined with the natural surroundings, making it feel like a scene straight out of a Balinese myth.
4. Happy Swing Bali
1h · Admission ticket not included
The swings are set up at various heights, so you can choose the level of thrill that suits you best. Some swings soar up to 78 meters above the ground, giving you the feeling of flying over the treetops. For those who prefer something a little less intense, there are lower swings that still offer amazing views without quite as much of a rush. No matter which swing you choose, the experience is unforgettable, especially if you time your visit during golden hour when the sunlight bathes the landscape in a soft, golden glow.

Beyond the swings, the Bali Swing site also offers other photo spots that are equally beautiful, like giant nests perched above the jungle, which are perfect for capturing those dreamy, fairytale-like photos. The combination of nature and adventure makes it feel like you’re stepping into a surreal, tropical paradise.
5. Bali Pulina Coffee Plantation
   1h
Visiting a coffee plantation in Bali is an experience that blends the island's natural beauty with its rich tradition of coffee cultivation. Bali is famous for its Luwak coffee, also known as kopi luwak, which is made from coffee beans that have been eaten and digested by civet cats. But beyond the curiosity surrounding this unique coffee, the plantations themselves offer a peaceful escape into the lush, green landscapes of the island.

One of the highlights of visiting a coffee plantation is the tasting session. You’re invited to sit down and sample a variety of coffees and teas made right there on the plantation. The tasting trays often include everything from Bali’s famous Luwak coffee to other local blends like vanilla coffee, coconut coffee, and ginger tea. Each cup offers a unique flavor profile, and it’s a great way to discover your new favorite brew. I was particularly surprised by how much I enjoyed the subtle sweetness of the coconut coffee.
6. Ubud Art Market
   1h
The Ubud Market, or Pasar Ubud, is a bustling, vibrant marketplace right in the heart of Ubud, and it’s one of the best spots to experience Bali’s artistic and cultural side. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or it’s your first time in Bali, wandering through the Ubud Market feels like an adventure. The market is packed with colorful stalls, local artisans, and endless opportunities to find unique treasures. From handcrafted goods to Balinese souvenirs, it’s the kind of place where you can spend hours just exploring.
One of the best things about Ubud Market is the interaction with the vendors. Bargaining is part of the experience, and it’s done in a friendly, good-natured way. Don’t be shy about negotiating a price—most sellers expect it and enjoy the back-and-forth. I remember getting a stunning batik scarf at a great price after a fun round of bargaining.
