Panauti has been under consideration to become the 8th UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Kathmandu Valley. Its unique temples, created by Newari craftsmen as their place of worship are built compactly. There are a variety of temples with their wonderful carvings situated on both sides of the rivers.
Here you can take time to look closely at the art, including unique murals dating back centuries. Because it is not yet a UNESCO World Heritage Sites, you will not see many visitors.
