    Born in 1967 as a cobbler's shop turned neighborhood watering hole, Bar Xavier has always been Tijuca's go-to spot for sidewalk beers and endless chatter. Saved from closure by a regular customer—who happens to be the father of acclaimed chef Cezar Cavaliere—this cozy spot recently made a triumphant comeback, rocking a sleek new marble bar while keeping its precious retro soul intact.
    Today, Cavaliere runs a dynamic chalkboard menu that masterfully blends old-school counter culture with modern culinary genius. The star of the show is their famous cheese empada, featuring a paper-thin crust and a rich, creamy filling often voted one of the best in Rio. For a heartier bite, his elevated moela e fritas delivers a rich, saucy, and deeply flavorful twist on the classic Belgian "moules-frites", making it the perfect companion for a cold beer.

    A true royalty of Rio’s boteco scene, Bar do Momo is a legendary street corner spot in Tijuca officially crowned as a Carioca Cultural Heritage. Founded in 1972 by a man who was literally Rio’s Carnival King (Rei Momo) 14 times over, this cozy hole-in-the-wall reached legendary status when the founder's son, Toninho, took over the kitchen in 2010. He injected pure culinary genius into old-school suburb classics, attracting foodies and top chefs to its casual sidewalk plastic tables.
