What to expect

  1. 1h
Gunma’s Famous Motsuni Stew at Nagai Shokudo

Visit Nagai Shokudo, a famous local restaurant serving Gunma’s beloved *motsuni* (pork offal stew). Popular with locals for years, this eatery offers a taste of everyday Japanese food culture. The pork offal is slowly simmered in rich miso until tender, creating a hearty dish with deep, savory flavor.

For this tour, we plan to order a **large serving of motsuni stew only**, without rice, miso soup, or other sides. This lets you focus on the restaurant’s signature dish. The meal is included in the tour price. If you prefer a regular-sized serving, please let us know in advance.

Alcoholic beverages are not included and must be paid for separately in Japanese yen cash.

Away from major tourist attractions, Nagai Shokudo can be difficult to reach without a car. Your host provides private transportation, assists with ordering, and explains the dish, helping you discover Gunma’s local flavors and experience everyday Japanese life.
  2. Maebashi

Host-Recommended Gyoza at Tonton in Maebashi

Local Chinese restaurants are part of everyday Japanese life, loved by residents for familiar dishes. Visiting one offers a glimpse of local food culture beyond typical tourist restaurants.

Enjoy Tonton’s grilled gyoza, personally recommended by your host. This tour features food the host genuinely loves and wants travelers to try, rather than simply visiting famous restaurants.

We plan to order two servings per person. The gyoza are included in the tour price, with no extra charge.

Alcoholic beverages are not included and must be paid for separately in Japanese yen cash.

Discover Gunma’s food culture through a local favorite chosen by your host.

Enjoy Manza Onsen and Discover Japanese Bathing Culture

Visit Manza Onsen, one of Gunma’s renowned hot spring destinations, for a day bath. Located about 1,800 meters above sea level, this mountain resort is surrounded by nature. Soak in sulfur-scented hot spring water, unwind, and enjoy the unique atmosphere of a high-altitude onsen.

You can choose Shima Onsen instead. Nestled in the mountains, it is another of Gunma’s charming hot spring destinations. Discuss your preference with your host.

This experience goes beyond bathing. Your host joins you and explains Japanese onsen etiquette, including washing your body before entering the tub. First-time visitors can learn local customs while enjoying the experience.

This is the host’s favorite miso ramen of all time and a perfect final stop on the tour. Enjoy a dish personally chosen and recommended by your host.
