Overview

This is the best tour I’ve created: a walk through 4,000 years of history that I call “Through Stone, Cross and Concrete.” We start with the ancient stones, from the gate of Ramses to the legend of Andromeda’s Rock. We move on to the cross, with St. Peter’s Church and the story of why Jaffa is holy to billions of people. We end with the concrete, the modern city that grew around it all. It’s a big storytelling experience, and the best welcome you can get to the story of Jaffa, Tel Aviv and Israel. What sets me apart is the way I tell it: real depth and knowledge, woven into one great story. You won’t just hear facts, you’ll understand how it all connects.

What's included

  • Professional local guide (2-hour walking tour)
  • Private transportation
  • Bottled water
  • Tip (optional)

What to expect

  1. Jaffa Clock Tower Information Center
    10m
We start at the Jaffa Clock Tower, an Ottoman landmark from 1906, then wander through the old stone alleys, artists’ galleries and sea-view lanes of Old Jaffa. Along the way I share the stories of 4,000 years of history, from legendary port and ancient ruins to the Jaffa of today.
  2. Andromeda's Rock
    5m
At Andromeda’s Rock, you’ll look out over the sea at the rock where, according to Greek myth, Andromeda was chained to be sacrificed to a sea monster until Perseus rescued her. I’ll tell you the legend, and we’ll enjoy the view of Jaffa’s old port and the Tel Aviv skyline.
  3. St. Peter's Church
    7m
At St. Peter’s Church, you’ll step inside a 17th-century Franciscan church built on the site of an old Crusader fortress, and hear how Jaffa’s story is tied to the apostle Peter, who according to tradition stayed here and performed a miracle. I’ll share the history of the place and the stories behind it.
  4. Suspended Orange Tree
    5m
At the Suspended Orange Tree, you’ll see a living tree floating in a huge clay pot above the courtyard of the Old Jaffa. It’s a symbol of Jaffa’s famous orange groves and the city’s citrus heritage, and I’ll tell you the story behind the artwork and why it became one of Jaffa’s most photographed spots
  5. Jaffa Flea Market
    5m
At the Jaffa Flea Market, you’ll wander through lively lanes of antiques, vintage finds, workshops and cafés, and hear how this old Ottoman-era neighborhood became one of Tel Aviv’s coolest spots. I’ll share the stories behind the market, and you’ll have time to browse and take it all in.
  6. Ramses II's Gate Garden
    5m
At the Ramses II Gate, you’ll see the ancient gateway at the entrance to Jaffa’s archaeological site, where remains of the Egyptian fortress from over 3,000 years ago have been uncovered. I’ll tell you how Jaffa was a key port city in the Egyptian empire, and the story of the clever trick that, according to legend, helped conquer it.
  7. Wishing Bridge
    5m
At the Wishing Bridge, you’ll cross a small stone footbridge decorated with the signs of the zodiac, and make a wish while looking out over the sea. According to local tradition, you touch your zodiac sign, face the water, and make a wish without looking back. I’ll share the story and you’ll have a moment for your own wish.
  8. Jaffa Port
    5m
At Jaffa Port, you’ll stroll along one of the oldest working harbors in the world, past fishermen’s boats, seaside cafés and converted warehouses, and hear how this port connected the land of Israel to the world for thousands of years. It’s the place of Jonah’s legend, the cedars of Lebanon for the Temple, and the pilgrims’ route to the Holy Land
  9. 5m
At Kedumim Square, the heart of Old Jaffa, you’ll stand in the central square surrounded by ancient stone buildings, and hear how this spot has been the center of the city’s life for centuries. I’ll share the stories of the people, ruins and legends around you, and you’ll have time to take photos and look out toward the sea.
  10. Old Jaffa Archaeological Center
    5m
At the Old Jaffa Archaeological Center, you’ll step into the excavated heart of the ancient city and see layers of history, from the Egyptian, Persian and Roman periods to the Ottoman era, preserved under your feet. I’ll explain what the ruins reveal and bring each period to life with stories.
