Climb the 251 steps of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and feel the tilt under your feet, then step into the Cathedral next door. Inside, 251 worn marble steps spiral up a tower that has been leaning for more than 800 years. You’ll feel it as you climb, drifting towards one wall and then the other. At the top, the bell terrace opens onto Pisa’s red rooftops, with the white marble Cathedral and Baptistery spread out below. Everyone takes the photo of the tower from the lawn; this time you’re the one looking down.
Back on the ground, Pisa Cathedral is included. Walk beneath its striped marble arches to Giovanni Pisano’s carved pulpit, the golden apse mosaic and the bronze lamp linked to the legend of Galileo’s pendulum.
Your audio guide plays on your own phone, so you can start, pause and replay whenever you like. Find out why the tower began to lean, how engineers saved it from falling in the 1990s, and the stories behind every monument on the Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Leaning Tower of Pisa

Climbing the Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of those things you have to feel to believe. Halfway up the 251 worn marble steps, you'll notice yourself drifting towards one wall, then the other, as the spiral stair follows the tilt that has puzzled engineers since the 1170s.
At the top, the bell terrace opens onto Pisa's terracotta rooftops, the white marble of the Cathedral and Baptistery below, and on clear days the Pisan hills on the horizon. You'll stand among the tower's seven bells, each tuned to a different note.
