The class takes place in a private home studio, conveniently located just a 1-minute walk from the station and close to Tokyo Skytree. You will be greeted by the instructor, Michiko, who will start with a short introduction about the traditions behind wagashi and its importance in Japanese culture. You will then learn how to make daifuku, mitarashi dango (mochi on skewers), and warabi mochi. The class concludes with a tasting session served with traditional green tea. Michiko is a certified Wagashi Instructor and fluent in English, so she'll be happy to share insights into local life as well as advice on where to shop or sightsee in Tokyo.

What to expect

"Ichigo Ichie" means "once-in-a-lifetime encounter"- a philosophy your instructor treasures in every class they hold.
Wagashi is one of Japan's most beloved treats—soft, chewy sweets made from rice flour and filled with sweet red bean paste. Join a hands-on lesson at a home in a peaceful Shitamachi neighborhood, just a 1-minute walk from the station near Tokyo Skytree and Asakusa. With a minimum of 1 participant and a maximum of 4 participants, you'll enjoy making daifuku, dango, and warabi mochi in a cozy, friendly atmosphere using simple recipes you can easily recreate at home.
Take your creations home and sit down to sample them with traditional green tea.
