This experience is centered around the traditional Dehe soy sauce-making craft of Baoying, Yangzhou, a recognized form of intangible cultural heritage.
You will visit a traditional Chinese village and soy sauce workshop in Baoying, where you can see how soy sauce is made using traditional methods, from ingredients and fermentation to drawing, filtering, and bottling.
The experience will be personally guided by either an officially recognized Representative Inheritor of Jiangsu Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage or a skilled soy sauce maker with more than 20 years of brewing experience. You will also have the opportunity to take part in traditional hands-on activities such as mixing the fermented mash and scooping soy sauce from the jars.
A provincial-level heritage inheritor is officially recognized by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism for their mastery, representative status, and responsibility for preserving and passing on the traditional craft.
The experience also includes local food, dinner, and around 1–2 hours of free time to explore the village and experience everyday rural life.
Please contact me by WeChat or phone at least one day before the experience and let me know your expected arrival time. I will confirm the exact meeting time and location with you as soon as possible.
