Overview

At 09:30 a wooden longtail pushes off from Ratchaprapha Pier, and until about 16:00 you are out on Cheow Lan, a lake within Khao Sok National Park. The man steering grew up on this lake and watches for where it runs shallow. The boat heads first for the Three Brothers (Khao Sam Kloe), a trio of limestone columns climbing straight out of the water. Next it pulls in at the bank and your guide takes you into a cave. Out of the sun it feels cooler, and the rock is flecked with minerals that glitter as you move through. Further along you land again where a waterfall marks the edge of the jungle, and walk with your guide among tall rainforest trees. Lunch is a simple Thai meal on a bamboo raft house. After eating, swim off the deck, paddle a kayak or rest in the shade until the longtail takes you back to the pier around 16:00, and we drive you to your hotel. Each departure is a shared group of up to 15 guests on one daily schedule. Families with kids aged 5 and up are welcome.

    The boat leaves from the pier at Cheow Lan (Ratchaprapha) Dam and returns here at the end of the day. Meet at the pier, go through the park ticket booth together, and step straight onto the wooden longtail boat.

    The whole day is spent inside Khao Sok National Park, on Cheow Lan Lake, in a wooden longtail boat driven by a villager who grew up on this water: the Three Brothers, the three limestone peaks in every photograph of the lake; a cave whose walls catch the light like scattered diamond; lunch, swimming and kayaks at a floating bamboo raft house; and in the afternoon a forest hidden inside the lake with a waterfall standing at its entrance. Your park entrance fee (340 THB per adult, 170 THB per child) is included in the price - there is nothing to pay at the gate.
