Overview

Quinta da Regaleira after lunch, then sunset at Cabo da Roca, Europe's westernmost point, with a top-rated Portuguese wine of your choice. A tour our guests asked us to create.

At the end of our Sintra days, people kept asking us for the same thing: to stop somewhere on the coast, watch the sun go down into the Atlantic, and enjoy it with a glass of good wine. So we built a whole afternoon around that moment.

Then we head to the coast for the main moment: sunset at Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe. Away from the crowds at the monument, we walk a few minutes along the cliffs, lay out a blanket and open a top-rated Portuguese wine, red, white, sweet white or rosé, whichever you chose when you booked, served chilled in real glasses with a few local bites. Then you just watch the light go down over the ocean, while we take your photos in the golden light.

What to expect

  1. Quinta da Regaleira

    Your ticket is already included and pre-booked, so there's no queue. Descend the Initiation Well, 27 metres down nine spiral landings, then follow the tunnels out into the gardens, at your own pace.
  2. Boca do Inferno

    When the day allows (October and March), we add a stop at Boca do Inferno near Cascais, where the waves crash into a collapsed sea cave.
  3. Cabo Da Roca

    Then we head to the coast for the main moment: sunset at Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe. Away from the crowds at the monument, we walk a few minutes along the cliffs, lay out a blanket and open a top-rated Portuguese wine, red, white, sweet white or rosé, whichever you chose when you booked, served chilled in real glasses with a few local bites. Then you just watch the light go down over the ocean, while we take your photos in the golden light. If fog covers the cape, which happens on this coast, we drive up to Peninha, a hilltop sanctuary that often sits above the clouds, with the same view of the Atlantic.

Meeting and pickup

Pickup details

Your driver-guide will message you on WhatsApp about 15 minutes before arrival. Look for a blue Tesla Model Y and the driver holding a small sign with the lead traveler's name. If you cannot see us, call or WhatsApp the same number. Drop-off is back at your Lisbon accommodation. After booking, please send us by WhatsApp or email the address of your hotel or accommodation in Lisbon and your wine choice: red, white, sweet white or rosé. We will confirm your pickup time and your Quinta da Regaleira entry time.

Additional information

  • Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap
  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • Pickup time follows the sunset: between 2pm and 4pm depending on the date, always after lunch.
  • Your driver-guide, who speaks English, Portuguese and Spanish, shares tips and stories; inside Quinta da Regaleira you explore on your own with your pre-booked ticket and our free audio guide, and we agree a time to meet you at the exit.
  • If fog covers Cabo da Roca, we watch the sunset from Peninha instead.
  • Bring a warm jacket: it gets cold and windy on the cliffs at sunset, even in summer.
  • Wine is served only to guests aged 18 and over; juice is offered instead.
  • Wear comfortable shoes: Regaleira has steep paths, stairs and uneven tunnels.
  • Quinta da Regaleira is closed on 1 January and on 24, 25 and 31 December.
  • Not suitable for wheelchair users.
