What to expect

At a community-focused calligraphy studio in Jiyugaoka, Tokyo, you will experience the art of Japanese calligraphy in a session lasting just under two hours.

First, you will grind your own ink using a traditional inkstone and learn the basic brushstrokes.

Next, you will write your favorite Japanese characters to create your own unique piece on a shikishi (hardboard paper) or a uchiwa (hand fan). You can take your finished masterpiece home with you as a souvenir.

At the end of the lesson, we will welcome you with sencha green tea and traditional Japanese sweets.

From Jiyugaoka Station Main gate go straight seeing station on your back. When you reach Gakuen street turn left. Keep straight and pass Gakuen Street walk for few minutes you will see Myouka Calligraphy on your left.
