Paint your own lucky cat and take home a little piece of Japan.
A maneki-neko, or “beckoning cat,” is a traditional Japanese symbol of good fortune. At DARUMA LAB. in Shinsaibashi, you can learn about its meaning and paint your very own.
Start with a plain maneki-neko and choose your favourite colours. Follow a traditional style or create something entirely your own—a keepsake of your time in Osaka, or a thoughtful gift for someone special.
The staff guide you through each step, so no experience is needed. Paints, brushes and an apron are all provided.
The session takes about 90 minutes in total, including drying time, so you can take your finished lucky cat home the same day.
We are a 3-minute walk from Shinsaibashi Station, in Amerikamura, at the heart of Osaka’s Minami district.
There is no age limit, and children are welcome with an adult. The studio is on the 2nd floor and accessible by lift. Wheelchair users, families with strollers and pregnant guests are welcome.
We are on the 2nd floor of the Popolo Building, a 3-minute walk from Shinsaibashi Station. Enter from the street and come up to the 2nd floor. Our staff will meet you at the studio door and check your booking name. Please arrive 5 minutes early.
