Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde

The Basilica of Our Lady of the Guard (The Good Mother) Exterior discovery of this iconic monument in neo-Byzantine style. Enjoy a panoramic 360° view of the entire harbor of Marseille.
Free indoor tour of the Basilica. It's an explosion of color and light. It is lined with mosaics on a gold background (more than 12 million small pieces called tesserae). I'd invite you to look up at the ceiling. Small boats and suspended planes are ex-votos. These are gifts from sailors, fishermen or airmen who survived a storm or accident to thank the Good Mother for saving their lives.
Then we will start your descent towards the JF Kennedy Corniche (about 25 minutes walk)
