Overview

Some views stay with you for a lifetime. The first glimpse of Neuschwanstein, white towers rising from the forest with the Alps behind them, is one of them. Your chauffeur picks you up at your Munich hotel and plans the day around your castle entry time, so you skip the trains, buses and crowds. From the village of Hohenschwangau you walk up to the castle (about 30 to 40 minutes) or take the shuttle bus or a horse carriage, paid on site. Neuschwanstein is visited on a timed guided tour of about 30 minutes, and tickets must be reserved in advance. Back in the valley, visit Hohenschwangau Castle or walk along Lake Alpsee.
