What to expect

  1. Castello del Molo (Koules)

    The starting point of the puzzle walk. Solve your first riddle at the Venetian sea fortress guarding the old harbour, then follow the route into the old town.
  2. Heraklion Archaeological Museum

    The route passes the world-famous museum of Minoan culture. The puzzle is solved outside; entry is optional and not included.
  3. Morosini Fountain

    Solve a riddle at the famous 17th-century lion fountain on Lions Square, the lively heart of the old town — a great spot for a coffee break along the route.

Meeting and pickup

Meeting point

Your starting point is the Koules Fortress, the Venetian sea fortress at the entrance of the old harbour of Heraklion — about a 10-minute walk from the city centre bus station. This is self-guided: no guide meets you. Just start at the fortress and follow the route on your own phone.

End point

The route finishes at the Natural History Museum of Crete, on the seafront west of the old town. From here it is about a 15-minute walk back to the harbour and the city centre.
