The highlight is watching elephants roam freely in their natural habitat. During the dry season, you may also witness the famous Elephant Gathering, when hundreds of elephants gather around the Minneriya Tank.
The park is also home to sambar deer, wild buffalo, monkeys, crocodiles, and many bird species, including painted storks, cormorants, and eagles. With a bit of luck, you might even spot a leopard.
