Discover the history of Rome with an expert Guide who will tell you the story of the construction of the Colosseum, begun by Emperor Vespasian in 72 AD.C. and inaugurated by his son Titus in 80 AD.C.
The colossus could accommodate between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators, who entered through 80 numbered arches (seats allocated according to social class). It was used for gladiatorial combat, wild animal hunting and even simulated naval battles.
The Forum was the hub of Roman public life where markets were set up and trials, elections and religious ceremonies were held.
