1. Castelo de Almourol

   Located on a small, steep island in the middle course of the Tagus River, Almourol Castle is one of the most emblematic medieval military monuments of the Christian Conquest and a major symbol of the Templar presence in Portugal. We will stop here to admire the beauty of this structure and the surrounding landscape, and take photos.
2. Marina de Escaroupim

   Escaroupim is a typical fishing village, formed in the mid-1930s by fishermen from "Praia da Vieira", who seasonally came to the Tagus River for winter fishing campaigns, especially for shad, seeking sustenance for their numerous families, returning to Praia da Vieira in the summer. Many of these fishermen stayed along the riverbanks, and thus formed small fishing villages. In these villages, the houses are made of wood, painted in bright colors and built on stilts, so as to be protected from frequent floods.
   
   In the riverside village of Escaroupim, we can stop to admire the landscape and take photos, go birdwatching, and if the visitors wants a break for a picnic or lunch, there is a picnic area and a panoramic restaurant with a natural viewpoint over the Tagus River.

Pickup details

The meeting point will normally be in Almeirim or Alpiarça, but we can pick up clients at Santarém Train Station if that's more convenient. This might be useful for those coming from Lisbon, for example. The meeting point will be determined directly with the visitors, depending on the type of tour they want to take and where they are coming from.
