Cove Creek Canyon Waterfall Rappelling and Canyoneering is a beginner‑friendly outdoor adventure in the Pisgah National Forest, perfect for those in good physical condition who can comfortably hike on rocky terrain and gentle hills at a relaxed pace, with no prior climbing or rappelling experience required—being able to climb a ladder or several flights of stairs is a good indicator of readiness. The experience features a 1.5‑mile hike to the top of Cove Creek Waterfall, a full gear‑up and rappelling class, a practice rappel, an exciting 75‑foot waterfall rappel, and a second 45‑foot rappel. Along the way, participants navigate knee‑deep water, scramble over boulders, and explore scenic trails that run alongside the waterway. The adventure concludes with a visit to a refreshing swimming hole before hiking out, making it a memorable and accessible introduction to canyoneering and waterfall rappelling.
