What to expect

You'll learn the fundamentals of Chinese paper cutting (剪纸), a traditional folk art used for centuries to decorate homes and celebrate festivals. After a short introduction to its history, symbolism, and basic cutting techniques, your instructor will demonstrate how traditional patterns are created using folded paper and simple tools.

You can then choose the project you'd like to create. Options include a Chinese zodiac paper cut featuring your own zodiac animal, a festive "Good Luck in the Year of the Horse" (马年大吉) design, or a creative paper-cut artwork using traditional motifs such as fish, flowers, and other auspicious symbols. Throughout the workshop, you'll receive step-by-step guidance while developing your own design and learning the techniques behind this traditional craft.

The workshop is beginner-friendly, and you'll complete at least one finished paper-cut artwork to take home as a unique handmade souvenir.
