This is a slow, observant walk through Tokyo’s lived-in backstreets, and one of my favorite urban areas in Tokyo. All participants will receive photos of the group from the walk.
The photowalk begins in Inokashira Park, where the group gathers, and we start the photo tour from there. The route moves on foot through the surrounding neighborhoods, quiet residential streets, small shopping roads, service alleys, and overlooked urban pockets that locals pass through daily. We will also stop once for coffee!
Participants photograph the environment as they walk, using either a camera or phone.
While lightly sharing history and stories, I will also guide you how to see light in narrow streets, how to frame ordinary scenes, how to work with movement, signage, textures, and people without interrupting the flow of the city.
The route shifts gradually from green space into the local neighborhoods, revealing how Tokyo transitions block by block. Expect small shrines between buildings, neighborhood shops, vending machine clusters, bicycles stacked against walls, aging apartments, and local streets.
Please come to the south exit (Park exit) of the station.
We will be saying bye a few stops from where we started.
