What to expect

  1. Erg Chebbi

During the drive to the first stop, the 4x4 journey takes you across the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes and the surrounding desert landscapes. Along the way, travelers will see traditional Berber villages, scattered palm groves, and the vast Hamada plateau. The guide will provide background on the region, local culture, and desert life while you enjoy the unique desert scenery from the comfort of the vehicle.
  2. Rissani
    40m
This seasonal lake is a haven for migratory birds from Europe, including flamingos and stilts, especially in winter. Travelers can stroll along the lake’s edge, observe the birdlife with binoculars or cameras, and enjoy the reflections of the desert dunes in the water. The guide explains the ecological significance of the lake and its role in local desert life, offering insights into how the community interacts with this rare water source.
  3. Mfis
    50m
Located on the high plateau, the Mfis Mines are still actively worked by local Berber miners. Travelers can observe miners at work using traditional methods and learn about the history of mining in the region. The location also offers panoramic views of both the Erg Chebbi sand dunes and the surrounding Hamada rock formations. The guide will share stories about the resilience and daily life of desert workers, making this stop both scenic and educational.
  4. Khamlia
    40m
Travelers follow the ancient Paris-Dakar route along the “Virgin River” path to visit small nomad settlements. Here, you can meet local nomadic families, see traditional tents, and gain insight into the daily life, culture, and crafts of desert nomads. The 4x4 allows access to remote areas that are otherwise difficult to reach, providing a genuine, off-the-beaten-path experience. This stop is ideal for photography and cultural immersion.
