   Adachi Museum of Art
Located in Yasugi, Shimane Prefecture, the Adachi Museum of Art is renowned for its award-winning garden, consistently ranked as Japan's best. The vast 165,000㎡ gardens masterfully incorporate "borrowed scenery" from distant mountains, featuring diverse styles like karesansui (dry landscape), pond, and moss gardens. Each season transforms them into a living scroll painting. Inside, the museum houses an impressive collection of modern Japanese paintings by masters such as Yokoyama Taikan and Takeuchi Seihō, perfectly realizing the ideal of "the garden itself as a painting." It offers a serene sanctuary to appreciate the harmonious fusion of nature and art, embodying traditional Japanese aesthetics. (Admission fee not included.)

Himeji Castle, acclaimed as Japan's finest surviving feudal castle, was among the first in the country to be designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. Often called the "White Heron Castle" for its brilliant white plaster walls and elegant, layered rooflines resembling a bird in flight, it represents the pinnacle of early 17th-century Japanese castle architecture. Renowned as the largest and most perfectly preserved complex of its kind, it showcases sophisticated defensive design and remains untouched by war or disaster. Visitors who ascend its main keep are rewarded with both an intimate look at masterful samurai-era construction and sweeping views of the city—a profound journey into Japan's history and aesthetic spirit.
