Leave Shanghai behind and discover a quieter side of China, where tea-covered hills, ancient villages, forest hot springs, and peaceful coastal landscapes await.

Over three days, explore Ninghai with an English-speaking guide, following scenic countryside trails through traditional villages, tea terraces, and mountain scenery. Discover local stories and rural traditions along the way.

After a rewarding hike, unwind in the warm waters of Nanxi Forest Hot Spring, surrounded by woodland. The next day, explore waterfalls and mountain trails before heading to Qiangjiao, a coastal fishing town where you can glimpse everyday life by the sea.

With round-trip transportation from Shanghai, two nights of hotel accommodation, and guided experiences arranged for you, this journey combines outdoor discovery, cultural connection, and time to slow down—without the hassle of planning it all yourself.

What to expect

Day 1: Shanghai to Ninghai

Travel from Shanghai to Ninghai in the evening. On arrival, your English-speaking guide will assist with hotel check-in before you settle in for the night and prepare for the next day’s hike.

Day 2: Tea Hills, Ancient Villages & Forest Hot Springs

Begin the day’s hike from Longgong Ancient Village and follow trails inspired by Ninghai’s historic routes and national hiking network. Walk through traditional village scenery, tea fields, terraced farmland, mountain streams and woodland before continuing toward Xixi Reservoir. The full hike is approximately 7–8 km and is designed at a moderate, relaxed pace.
Forest Hot Spring Tourism Area

After the hike, unwind at Nanxi Forest Hot Spring, surrounded by the forested landscape of Ninghai. Enjoy ample time to soak in the thermal pools and relax after the day’s walk before returning to the hotel in the early evening.

Day 3: Mountain Views, Coastal Villages & Return to Shanghai

Ningbo Yancang Mountain Scenic Resort

Hike approximately 3 km through the scenic Yancang Mountain area, starting from the Hehong Post Station. Follow gentle paths and stone steps past mountain scenery, waterfalls and a small blue reservoir before reaching Foshoutai, a dramatic viewpoint overlooking the surrounding hills.

Explore the seaside atmosphere of Qiangjiao, a traditional fishing town on the Ninghai coast. After free time for lunch, stroll along the fishing harbor, see returning boats and village murals, and enjoy views across the water toward Hengshan Island. Depending on the tide, there may also be time to explore the rocky shoreline and look for shells before relaxing by the coast.
