Overview

Leave the lights of Ylläs behind and snowshoe up Kesänki Fell under the Arctic night sky, in a small group with a local expert guide. We walk through snowy forests and climb to just below the top, where the view opens up over the fells and the dark Lapland sky. Along the way, your guide shares stories about the Arctic environment, winter life and wildlife. We then warm up by the fire in a traditional kota with hot drinks and a sweet Lapland treat. Keep an eye on the sky: on clear nights, the Northern Lights may dance above the fells.

What to expect

Set off into the snowy forest after dark and discover the winter landscape around Ylläs by snowshoe. Follow your guide through quiet forest trails before gradually climbing towards more open terrain and wider views of the night sky.

Take your time to enjoy the silence and darkness of the Arctic landscape, away from the lights and crowds. Your guide will share local knowledge about the area and help you get comfortable on the snowshoes.

Finish the experience in a traditional kota, where you can warm up by the fire and enjoy hot drinks and a small snack before heading back. On clear nights, you may also have the chance to see the Northern Lights, although sightings are not guaranteed.
