What to expect

Day 1: Arrival in Madeira
  1. Made in Madeira
    12h
Arrival in the evening on the beautiful island of Madeira, known for its dramatic landscapes and mild climate year-round. You’ll experience the famous Madeira airport landing, considered one of the most unique in Europe. After arrival, there will be time for a quick grocery stop before heading to accommodation. The rest of the evening is dedicated to rest and recovery, preparing for the exciting Madeira adventure ahead.
Day 2: Ponta de São Lourenço & Machico
  1. Ponta de Sao Lourenco
1 day · Admission ticket included
We begin exploring Madeira with a scenic hike at Ponta de São Lourenço, located on the eastern peninsula. This 7.2 km trail offers spectacular coastal views and showcases the island’s volcanic origins, making it one of the most popular hikes in Madeira. For those who prefer a lighter option, it is possible to return by boat.
After the hike, we head to Machico, the historic landing site of the Portuguese explorers in 1419. Here we’ll enjoy lunch, explore the town, and relax on the sandy beach — rare for Madeira. On the way, we stop at Miradouro do Pico do Facho viewpoint for panoramic views and plane spotting. If time allows, we’ll also visit the Cristo Rei statue before returning.
Day 3: Funchal & Monte Experience and Cabo Girão
  1. Funchal
    1 day
Today we explore Funchal, the vibrant capital of Madeira.

Optional activities (fees are not included): If you wish, we can take the cable car up to Monte, offering stunning views over the city and coastline. At the top, you can visit the botanical garden, home to exotic plants and peaceful walking paths.

A highlight of the optional program is the famous toboggan ride, a traditional Madeira experience once described by Ernest Hemingway as unforgettable.

If you prefer not to join the optional activities, you can explore Funchal at your own pace. We will all meet for lunch on the popular Rua de Santa Maria, known for its painted doors and restaurants.

After lunch, we’ll explore the historic centre and visit the local farmers’ market, Mercado dos Lavradores.

On the way back, we’ll stop at Cabo Girão, where entrance to the glass-floored viewpoint is included in the tour price. You can enjoy the spectacular views from the viewpoint before we return to our accommodation.
Day 4: Levada Walk & Porto Moniz
  1. 25 Fontes and Cascada da Risco
1 day · Admission ticket included
Today we explore Madeira’s famous levadas, unique irrigation channels that offer some of the best hiking trails on the island. We hike to 25 Fontes and Risco Waterfall, a lush green trail of approximately 10–11 km. For convenience, part of the ascent can be shortened using a local shuttle.
After the hike, we head to Porto Moniz, known for its natural volcanic lava pools. After lunch, we relax and swim in these unique ocean pools, one of Madeira’s top attractions. On the way back, we enjoy scenic coastal views and photo stops.
Day 5: Fanal Forest & North Coast
  1. Porto Moniz
    1 day
We visit the magical Fanal Forest, part of the UNESCO-listed Laurisilva forest. The ancient laurel trees, often surrounded by mist, create a unique and almost mystical atmosphere. After a short walk, we continue along the north coast.
We stop at Ribeira da Janela and Véu da Noiva waterfall viewpoint, two of the most photogenic spots on Madeira. Lunch will be in São Vicente, a charming northern village. In the afternoon, we relax at Seixal, famous for its black sand beach and dramatic scenery. Those who prefer can explore the coastline or look for small sea creatures.
Day 6: Pico Ruivo and Arreiro & Mountain Adventure
  1. Pico do Arieiro
1 day · Admission ticket included
Today is dedicated to Madeira’s mountains. We start at Pico do Arieiro (1,818 m), enjoying incredible views above the clouds and a short walk. Afterward, we stop for coffee and the famous pastel de nata.
Next, we visit Levada dos Balcões, an easy walk with stunning views and friendly birds that often eat from your hand. Lunch will be in Santana, known for its traditional triangular houses.
In the afternoon, we hike to Pico Ruivo (1,862 m), the highest peak in Madeira. This 5.6 km round-trip hike offers unforgettable mountain scenery and is one of the highlights of the trip.
Day 7: West Madeira & Hidden Gems
  1. Achadas da Cruz
    1 day
    Achadas da Cruz sentence

If the weather conditions allow, we’ll begin with a ride on one of the steepest cable cars in Europe at Achadas da Cruz (fee included in the price), descending to remote farmland by the ocean.
After a short walk, we continue to Ponta do Pargo, the westernmost point of Madeira, where a lighthouse offers breathtaking ocean views.
Next, we visit Câmara de Lobos, a picturesque fishing village once painted by Winston Churchill. We’ll enjoy lunch here and soak in the local atmosphere.
Later, we stop at Curral das Freiras (Valley of the Nuns), a hidden valley surrounded by mountains. For the adventurous, there is a chance to experience the unique Anjos Waterfall, where water falls directly onto the road.
Day 8: Funchal & Departure
