Overview

Looking for the perfect way to start your night in Budapest? Join a small group of maximum 12 people and spend a laid-back evening eating and drinking your way through the city with a local who knows Budapest’s food and drink scene inside out. Expect great Hungarian flavors, plenty of local drinks, good stories, and a few spots you probably wouldn’t find on your own.

We'll take you beyond the typical tourist spots and into the hidden gems. From family-run businesses and local pubs to a small Hungarian brewery and wine shop.

Along the way, you'll taste 12+ Hungarian food and drink specialties, including local beers, wines, pálinka, Unicum and lángos, while discovering what Hungarians actually eat and drink when they go out.

This isn't a typical pub crawl or a formal food tour - it's an evening spent exploring Budapest like a local, meeting fellow travelers, discovering authentic places and getting a real taste of Hungarian drinking and food culture.

What's included

  • Soda/Pop
  • 5 Hungarian beers 5 Hungarian wines 1 Pálinka — traditional Hungarian fruit spirit 1 Unicum — iconic Hungarian herbal liqueur
  • Hungary’s famous deep-fried flatbread, traditionally topped with garlic, sour cream and cheese. A classic Hungarian street-food favorite and the perfect midway stop during the evening.

What to expect

  1. Kalvin Square

We start in a traditional local pub where you'll get your first taste of Hungarian drinking culture.

We'll warm up with a small serving of a traditional Hungarian spirit, such as pálinka, together with a local snack.

We will introduce you to the basics of Hungarian drinking traditions and share a few stories about why pálinka has such an important place in Hungarian culture.
  2. Markusovszky ter
    30m
Next, we'll pop into a small local wine shop run by a Hungarian family, where we'll enjoy some of their homemade Hungarian wines.

We'll keep this stop relaxed and friendly, with some freshly made pogácsa as our little Hungarian snack while we have a chat about Hungarian wine culture.

You'll get to try a few wines that you probably wouldn't come across on your own and discover a more personal side of Hungarian winemaking.
  3. Kalvin Square
    30m
Next, we'll stop by a local Hungarian brewery and try some of their freshly made beers.

We'll taste a couple of different styles, have a look at what they're doing, and chat about Hungary's growing craft beer scene. It's a relaxed stop where you can enjoy a good local beer and get a little taste of the modern side of Hungarian drinking culture.
  4. Fovam Square
    20m
Halfway through the evening, it's time to absorb some of the alcohol.

We'll stop for lángos - Hungary's most famous street food - and enjoy one of the country's ultimate comfort foods.
Your guide will tell you a little about the story behind lángos and why this crispy, garlicky, cheesy Hungarian classic is such a beloved part of local food culture.
  5. Ferenciek Tere
    30m
For our final stop, we'll sit down at a local pub/restaurant and finish the evening the Hungarian way.

We'll try two locally made Hungarian wines and discover fröccs, the traditional Hungarian wine spritzer. We'll also finish with a taste of Unicum, Hungary's iconic herbal bitter and one of the country's most famous drinks.

If you're still hungry, there's also the option to order some traditional Hungarian food and enjoy a proper sit-down meal.

A relaxed final stop to chat, enjoy a few last Hungarian flavors, and get ready to continue your Budapest night.
