Overview

Our trips are not just about watching animals but also a chance to connect with local communities, learn about their traditions, and understand their vital role in protecting the mountain gorillas. Our trips include cultural encounters with the local community and accommodations close to the lake or river or other forms of nature to give you the opportunity to connect with nature. This trip includes a cultural encounter with the Batwa, a unique indigenous group that plays a major role in Gorilla preservation. Your accommodation will be at a non-profit, which helps women who have suffered domestic violence and others who are very poor. A portion of the proceeds from this trip is channeled back to our partners, non-profits who are supporting and investing in their communities.

What to expect

Day 1: Drive to Bwindi National Park, early morning start
  1. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
    1h · Admission ticket included
A scenic drive that features steep, terraced, and farmed hills (often called the "Switzerland of Africa") and winding roads surrounded by thick, misty, ancient forests.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking day. After breakfast, start your gorilla trek with your guide. Est. 6h
  1. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
    1h
Travelers will encounter Gorillas in person to experience this life time memorable photo opportunity, take photos of the Gorillas as they play, eat and interact with each other. Wake early for a hearty breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla trekking. Before 8:00am, report to the ranger station for registration and a briefing by one of the rangers.
The guides will then take you through the bush, pushing your way trough the undergrowth, to track the gorillas. (Please note this trek can take from 30 minutes to 5-6 hours). A reasonable degree of fitness is required, as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes.

Sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them ‘talk’ to one an other, and marvel at the sheer size the dominant male, the Silverback.

It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rain forest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas. It's amazing to think there are only about 650 of these beautiful creatures left. Permit fee $800
Day 3: Cultural Experience with the Batwa & photo stop at the Equator
  1. Uganda Equator
    2h · Admission ticket included
After breakfast you will have an encounter with the Batwa People, an indigenous tribe who live around Bwindi and who provide a vital service to the preservation of the ecology of Bwindi. You will interact with them, listen to their stories, music and dance. After which you will drive back to Entebbe or Kampala and stop at the Equator line for photos.
