Pick fresh shiitake mushrooms and grill them over charcoal at Sakura Mushroom Farm, near Tokyo and Narita Airport. This private experience brings together hands-on harvesting, outdoor cooking, and a taste of local food culture.
Meet your English-speaking local host at Keisei-Sakura Station. Start with a brief visit to Hiyodori-zaka, a historic bamboo-lined path, before heading to the farm.
Learn how shiitake mushrooms are grown, then choose and pick the ones you would like to eat. At the farm shop, purchase your harvest and any meat, vegetables, or drinks for your BBQ. Staff prepare the charcoal grill, so you can enjoy cooking and tasting your freshly picked mushrooms in the open air.
The pleasure is in the whole process: discovering how mushrooms grow, picking them yourself, and enjoying their aroma and flavor straight from the grill.
This approximately three-hour experience starts and ends at Keisei-Sakura Station. Harvested mushrooms, other food, and drinks are paid for separately. Optional meet-and-assist by train from Narita Airport or a central Tokyo hotel is available for an additional fee and must be arranged in advance.
