What to expect

  1. Pietralba
    15m
Situated at 1,520 meters above sea level, surrounded by woods and breathtaking views, the Sanctuary of Pietralba is one of the most beloved and visited places of worship in all of South Tyrol. More than just a religious destination, it is a place of the soul, where history, faith, art, and nature meet to offer pilgrims and visitors a unique experience.
  2. Carezza
    15m
We'll cross the Ega Valley, which begins in Bolzano and runs east between the Catinaccio and Latemar mountains. This road was built in 1895 when the territory was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Part of the route runs through a canyon carved out by the Ega River. We'll stop at Lake Carezza, the most beautiful lake in the Dolomites: a 30-minute stay with a walk around the lake, if you like.
  3. Passo di Costalunga
    Pass by
The Karerpass is a high mountain pass in the province of South Tyrol in Italy. It connects Bolzano through the Eggental and the Welschnofen Valley with the Fassa Valley.
  4. Canazei
    Pass by
Canazei is an Alpine resort in northern Italy. Sitting near the Pordoi, Sella and Fedaia passes, it’s part of the Dolomiti Superski area, which offers numerous downhill runs.
  5. Passo Pordoi
    40m
From here begins a long series of 27 hairpin bends that will lead us to the famous Pordoi Pass, at an altitude of 2,239 meters above sea level. It's an hour's stay if you decide to take the cable car to Sass Pordoi (2,950 meters; the cable car is open from late May to mid-October and from Christmas to Easter).
  6. Passo Sella
    10m
From the Pordoi Pass we go back a few kilometers to reach the Sella Pass: here the landscape is truly impressive with the vertical walls of the Sella lying right in front of us.... From the Sella Pass we can admire the Marmolada glacier (3,343 m) and the majestic Sassolungo (3,181 m), the most famous mountain in Val Gardena: 15 minute stop for photos.
  7. Zona Pedonale
    15m
Descending from the Sella Pass, we'll enter Val Gardena, the most famous tourist valley in the Dolomites, and stay in its largest town, the beautiful Ortisei. We'll spend an hour there for lunch and to explore the town.
  8. Chiesa parrocchiale di Nova Ponente
    20m
On a peaceful hill above Nova Ponente, Saint Helena Church stands as one of the oldest and most enchanting sanctuaries in the region. Built in the 12th century, its Romanesque foundations and later Gothic touches tell centuries of stories — from mountain farmers seeking blessings to travelers crossing the high plateau in search of refuge.

Right beside the church, we enjoy a relaxing coffee stop — a quiet moment surrounded by alpine meadows, fresh mountain air, and the gentle sound of nature. With a warm cup in hand, the atmosphere becomes even more magical.

From the church terrace, the panorama opens wide: rolling green hills below, the dramatic silhouettes of the Dolomites rising in the distance, and a silence that feels ancient, sacred, and deeply calming.
A perfect blend of history, beauty, and peaceful mountain life.
