Saiin is a local Kyoto neighborhood where everyday life shapes the area’s food culture. With very few tourists around, it offers a rare chance to experience the city from a local perspective and connect with the community.
The tour begins at a traditional machiya restaurant, where you’ll enjoy freshly made gyoza in a warm, nostalgic setting that reflects Kyoto’s down-to-earth side. At the second stop, you’ll explore a selection of craft beers, sake, and whisky from across Japan, paired with dishes made using seasonal regional ingredients.
The evening concludes at a small, well-loved neighborhood bar known for its friendly owner and relaxed atmosphere. Seats are reserved for the tour, allowing you to unwind with expertly crafted cocktails and enjoy a cozy slice of Kyoto nightlife that most visitors never experience.
