Day 1: De Djawatan: Forest Fairytale in Java

1. De Djawatan Forest
   3h · Admission ticket included
Step into a fairytale-like world at De Djawatan Forest, one of Banyuwangi’s most enchanting natural attractions. Often compared to the mystical landscapes of The Lord of the Rings, this hidden gem is filled with towering, centuries-old trembesi (rain) trees draped in thick green moss and ferns, creating a magical, almost surreal atmosphere. Wander through the shaded pathways, breathe in the fresh forest air, and snap stunning photos beneath the giant canopies that filter sunlight into golden rays. De Djawatan is perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking a peaceful escape from the city. The forest also offers picnic areas and is a great spot for leisurely walks or quiet reflection. Easy to access and family-friendly, it’s an ideal stop for a relaxing break on your East Java journey. Don’t forget your camera—every corner here is picture-perfect and worthy of your travel album.
2. Mount Raung
   Pass by
Mount Raung is one of the most challenging and spectacular volcanoes in East Java, known for its rugged beauty and adventurous trekking experience. Standing at 3,344 meters above sea level, Raung features a massive, oval-shaped caldera—one of the largest in Indonesia—with constantly smoking vents that create a dramatic landscape. The summit trek is recommended for experienced hikers due to its steep, rocky trails, high altitude, and exposed ridgelines. However, the reward is immense: panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, forests, and the deep, active crater below. Treks typically start from villages like Sumberwringin or Kalibaru, with multi-day climbs and camping along the route. Mount Raung offers not just physical challenge, but also a sense of accomplishment and awe in the face of raw volcanic power. For those seeking a true mountaineering adventure in East Java, Raung is an unforgettable experience that pushes your limits and connects you deeply with nature.

Day 2: Witness Ijen’s Magical Blue Fire

1. Ijen Crater Indonesia
   8h · Admission ticket included
Experience an extraordinary midnight adventure as you hike under the stars to the summit of Mount Ijen. Led by professional local guides, you'll witness the rare and mesmerizing blue flames, a natural phenomenon caused by ignited sulfuric gases—visible only in a few places on Earth. As dawn breaks, be rewarded with panoramic views of the striking turquoise crater lake, the largest highly acidic lake in the world. Along the trail, you'll encounter sulfur miners carrying heavy loads, offering deep insight into their daily struggles and strength. This journey blends natural wonder, physical challenge, and cultural encounter, making it one of the most unique volcano experiences in Indonesia. Be prepared for cold temperatures, rugged terrain, and unforgettable views that will stay with you long after the trip ends.
2. Boom Beach
   Pass by
Boom Beach, once Banyuwangi’s bustling historic port, has been beautifully transformed into a modern seaside destination just minutes from downtown. The beach’s distinctive black volcanic sand stretches along the eastern shore, offering serene views of Bali and Mount Batur across the Bali Strait. Whether it’s for peaceful moments by the sea, cultural festivals, or fun-filled family outings, Boom Beach offers a vibrant seaside experience blending history, natural beauty, and modern leisure.

Day 3: Hike to the skies! Explore the epic landscapes of Mount Bromo

1. Mount Bromo
   8h · Admission ticket included
Mount Bromo offers one of Indonesia’s most iconic and breathtaking landscapes. Your adventure begins with an early morning 4WD jeep ride across the vast Sea of Sand under the stars. Ascend to Penanjakan Viewpoint just in time to watch a legendary sunrise as the sky lights up and reveals the stunning vista of Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and the towering Semeru volcano in the background. After sunrise, explore the surreal volcanic terrain up close by walking or riding a horse to the base of Mount Bromo, then climb the stairs to its crater’s edge. Feel the rumble beneath your feet as smoke rises from the active volcano. This experience offers an unforgettable mix of adventure, photography, and raw natural beauty that defines East Java’s volcanic heart.
2. Luhur Poten Temple
   1h
Luhur Poten Temple is a sacred Hindu temple located at the heart of Mount Bromo’s Sea of Sand in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. Unlike typical Balinese temples, Luhur Poten reflects the unique culture of the Tenggerese people, who are the native Hindu community living in the Bromo highlands. The temple stands majestically on the volcanic plain, surrounded by barren landscapes and dramatic mountain backdrops, creating a surreal and spiritual setting. It plays a central role in the Yadnya Kasada ceremony, an annual ritual where Tenggerese worshippers hike up Mount Bromo and offer vegetables, rice, livestock, and money to the volcano’s crater as a sign of gratitude and devotion. Visitors are welcome to admire the architecture, which consists of multiple courtyards and shrines made of black volcanic stone. Luhur Poten is not only a cultural landmark but also a symbol of harmony between nature, faith, and tradition in East Java’s highlands.

Day 4: Tumpak Sewu: Curtain of Paradise

1. Tumpak Sewu Waterfall
   6h · Admission ticket included
Prepare to be amazed by the natural wonder of Tumpak Sewu, often called the “Niagara of Java.” Begin with a viewpoint from above, where you’ll witness the incredible curtain-like waterfall cascading down a semicircular cliff surrounded by lush jungle. The true adventure begins as you trek down into the canyon, crossing rivers and descending bamboo ladders to reach the foot of the falls. Up close, feel the roar and mist of the multi-tiered cascade echoing through the ravine—an unforgettable sensory experience. This journey is perfect for adventurous travelers who enjoy trekking, photography, and immersive natural beauty. The hike requires moderate physical fitness, but the reward is standing in one of the most dramatic and photogenic spots in Indonesia.
2. 1h · Admission ticket included
Experience the raw beauty of Mount Semeru from Sarkawi Kalitayeng Camp Ground & Lava Tour, nestled in the peaceful village of Sumberurip, Pronojiwo. Surrounded by vast rice fields, lush forest, and cool mountain air, this campsite offers a unique base for exploring East Java’s most active volcano. Enjoy camping close to nature with panoramic views of Semeru’s smoking peak and a serene atmosphere perfect for stargazing. The Lava Tour takes you on an off-road adventure through rocky volcanic terrain shaped by past eruptions, showcasing the dramatic power of nature.
