Welcome to Kigamboni Homestay - A Community of Creativity and Movement - Village Stay:
Kigamboni is a unique coastal area just a short ferry ride from central Dar es Salaam. With sandy paths, the scent of chapati, and children’s laughter, this urban village forms a close-knit community shaped by strong bonds and local traditions.
You'll stay with one of several welcoming families living close together. Our Local Coordinator, Rashid, matches you with a host based on your interests and you’ll feel like part of a big extended family. Aisha invites you to weave carpets or explore the village with her kids. Beatrice shares Swahili flavours, while Mama Tatu ("Mama Chapati") teaches chapati-making and tailoring.
A highlight is Kigamboni Community Center, a vibrant place where youth train in acrobatics, dance and music. As a guest, you can watch performances or even join a session yourself.
After your booking is confirmed, we’ll send you detailed information about the meeting point, contact details, and other important information. Please make sure that you are reachable via mobile, preferably WhatsApp, for easy communication.
