Step into a private Thai and Akha cooking class in Chiang Rai, held in a welcoming home kitchen filled with the aromas of fresh herbs, curry, and sizzling woks. This hands-on experience lets you cook five dishes while discovering Northern Thai and Akha food culture.
Begin with a guided walk through a local market to explore fresh herbs, spices, and ingredients before heading to Akha Kitchen. Upon arrival, enjoy a roselle welcome drink and get ready to cook with your instructor.
Prepare five dishes step by step, starting with “Sa-pee-tong,” a rare Akha dish passed down through hill tribe communities in Northern Thailand. Then choose Thai dishes from different courses, such as Pad Thai or Pad See Ew, Green Curry or Panang Curry, Tom Yum Goong or Spring Rolls, and Mango Sticky Rice or Bua Loy. Vegetarian options are available, and spice levels can be adjusted.
Cook at shared stations designed for your private group, so everyone can rotate through each step together. After cooking, sit down in a relaxed home-style setting to enjoy the dishes you prepared and leave with practical cooking skills and a deeper understanding of Northern Thai and Akha food culture.
Guests are required to make their own way to Chiang Rai Clock Tower by 9:00 AM before the market visit begins. The meeting point can be reached by taxi or Grab. Late arrivals of more than 10 minutes may be considered a no-show.
