Hamburg
1h
Set off on a fascinating stroll through Hamburg. You follow the water to the Alster fountain, pass beneath the elegant Alsterarkaden, and step into the grand civic setting of Rathausmarkt. The walk then leads through older parts of the city to St. Peter’s Church, the striking Chilehaus, the haunting St. Nikolai Memorial, and St. Catherine’s Church near the historic harbor quarter.
As the route continues, you enter the canal-lined Speicherstadt, where rows of warehouse façades, iron bridges, and dark water reveal Hamburg’s trading past. You also pass Miniatur Wunderland before finishing at the Elbphilharmonie, where a wave-shaped glass hall rises above a brick warehouse on the Elbe.
Along the way, you’ll enjoy lake views, Gothic spires, UNESCO-listed brick architecture, moving wartime memorials, and sweeping river panoramas from one of Hamburg’s most dramatic waterfront settings. Please note that an audio tour inside Hamburger Kunsthalle is not provided.
