What to expect

  1. Fukutsu
    30m
Although no longer in production, Toyomura Sake Brewery's 140 year history is now honored as a national heritage site. As we tour the facility you will learn each step in the brewing process dating back to pre-industrial times. Sample souvenir bottles may be purchased at the gift shop if you wish.
  2. Michi-no-Eki Munakata
    30m
Munakata Road Station is a local farmers market renowned for its fresh seafood, produce and other locally produced goods. We will take a break here for refreshments and snacks.
  3. 1h 30m
The halfway point of our cycling journey and time for lunch.
Sushi Yatai offers fresh, locally sourced and seasonal seafood in a chic boxcar setting. Gaze out on the ocean as the chefs prepare your meal one piece at a time with specific instructions on how to enjoy their unique condiments and toppings.
  4. Miyajidake Shrine
    1h
Miyajidake Shrine is protected by one of the largest Shimenawa or sacred ropes in all Japan. In the spring the expansive grounds feature fields of iris blossoms and other flowers.
It is also famous for the "Shining Path" when the sun sets over the ocean and aligns with the gates and steps of the shrine to cast the grounds in a golden glow. Late February to early March and mid to late October are the best times of year to witness this spectacle.
