Welcome to a unique workshop where you can create a traditional yet creative furoshiki by combining your favorite kimono patterns and colors.
Furoshiki, an iconic item representing Japan's “wrapping culture,” can be used as a lunchbox cover, bag, bottle wrapping, or tablecloth once completed.
We use high-quality and beautiful kimonos, salvaged from the tearing down of old houses.
Unfortunately, many kimonos are discarded, but through this experience, you will learn about the background of this activity, the process of making furoshiki, and the various ways to use it. You will make the standard furoshiki size is 70 cm.
In this workshop, we will use a sewing machine, but don't worry if you're a beginner.
We will provide gentle guidance throughout the process, ensuring you can create a beautiful furoshiki.
This experience is more than just a craft activity, it's an opportunity to connect with Japan's rich cultural heritage and take a step towards a sustainable future.
