*Mandatory* You must bring a HARD COPY of your 1949 Geneva Convention IDP AND you passport. Permits from the 1968 Vienna Convention are not accepted in Japan. Make sure to bring a HARD COPY of your Geneva 1949 IDP and passport in physical form with you on the day. 1968 style IDPs, photos/pdfs/a4 paper/card style IDPs are not accepted.
Driver's licenses issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Taiwan, Belgium, or Monaco must obtain a Japanese translation of the license from the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF). Also make sure to bring your PASSPORT, DRIVERS LICENCE, JAPANESE TRANSLATION PAPER in physical form!
