Everything runs from your smartphone, no app to download, no physical guide required. Follow a clear map through 9 stops, listen to a short audio story at each landmark, and answer an interactive quiz to unlock the next stop and dig deeper into the neighborhood's real history, from Stonewall's role in LGBTQ+ rights to a private courtyard once nicknamed 'Pig's Alley'.

What to expect

Washington Square Arch
Pass by

Start beneath Washington Square Arch, the bohemian landmark where artists once declared Greenwich Village a free republic. Beneath the park lies a former 19th-century potter's field, with thousands of burials still resting under the lawns.
Pass by

This 1958 record shop and instrument store stepped straight into The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with almost no set dressing needed. A former hangout of Bob Dylan, it now stocks over 1,000 world instruments and hosts a weekly comedy night.
The Stonewall Inn
Pass by

The birthplace of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. A 1969 police raid here sparked a six-day uprising that forced officers to barricade themselves inside for their own safety, igniting the gay liberation movement.
Pass by

The famous brownstone stoop at 66 Perry Street used as Carrie Bradshaw's apartment exterior in Sex and the City. The real townhouse sold for $13.5 million in 2013, a world away from the rent-controlled apartment shown on screen.
403 Bleecker Street, New York
Pass by

The original Magnolia Bakery, made famous by a 30-second Sex and the City scene that sparked the global cupcake craze. The whole shop, opened in 1996, fits into just 643 square feet.
75 1/2 Bedford Street
Pass by

Tucked away behind an iron gate lies Grove Court, a private enclave of six charming Federal-style townhouses in the heart of the West Village. Originally built for working-class residents, the courtyard earned unflattering nicknames like "Pig's Alley" in its early days. Today, Grove Court is one of the neighborhood's most exclusive and private residential enclaves — peek through the gate as you pass by.
Pass by

This unmarked speakeasy dates back to Prohibition, when patrons entered through a hidden door with no sign. A legendary literary hangout for writers like Hemingway and Fitzgerald, Chumley's later appeared on screen as a filming location tied to the West Village's storied bar scene. Look for the door with no name as you pass by.
Pass by

This apartment building's exterior served as the iconic facade of Monica's building in Friends, one of the most photographed spots on the tour. Fans still gather outside to snap photos, though the interior sets were filmed entirely on a Hollywood soundstage. Pass by for a classic photo op.
St. Luke's Place
Pass by

This row of Italianate townhouses along a tree-lined, gated street served as the exterior of the Huxtable family home on The Cosby Show. Its quiet, picturesque charm made it a favorite backdrop for film and TV crews shooting classic New York brownstone scenes. Pass by to admire the facade.
