Nagoya Castle is one of the most important and recognizable castles in Japan, renowned for both its rich history and impressive architecture. It is located in the heart of Nagoya City and was originally built in the early 17th century under the orders of the powerful shōgun Tokugawa Ieyasu. Its purpose was to protect the strategic route between Edo (present-day Tokyo) and Osaka, as well as to strengthen the Tokugawa family’s control over the region.

We will admire this magnificent castle from the bus, taking in its towering keeps, massive stone walls, and the wide moat that surrounds it. And don’t miss the golden Kinshachi the iconic tiger-headed dolphin ornaments that shine atop the main tower!
