Overview

Spot wild dolphins, snorkel colorful coral reefs full of tropical fish, and relax on a white sandbank with fresh tropical fruit and refreshments, all around Mnemba Island in a small group of up to 6 guests.

We start early, on purpose. Mnemba is one of Zanzibar's most popular spots and gets busy later in the morning. Setting off around 7:00 AM means calmer, quieter waters, and the dolphins tend to be more active in the early hours.

Our Animal & Nature First approach means we never chase or disturb the dolphins. Our local guides know these waters well, including how close it's respectful to get, and we follow the local marine conservation rules. How close the dolphins come is always up to them, and on playful days, they sometimes swim right up to the boat.

Back on shore around 10:30 AM, with most of the day still ahead of you.

What to expect

Your day starts with hotel pickup around 6:00 AM (if selected). Yes, it's early, and for a good reason: we set off around 7:00 AM from Muyuni Beach by small fiber boat (max 6 guests), before most boats arrive.

Keep your eyes on the water. If the dolphins appear and conditions allow, you may swim nearby, always with space, care, and respect.

Around 8:30 AM, enjoy guided snorkeling among tropical fish and colorful corals. Equipment is included, and life jackets are available.

Then relax on a white sandbank (tide permitting) with tropical fruit and refreshments, before we're back on shore around 10:30 AM. If hotel transfer is included, you'll then be taken back to your hotel.

Mnemba can still get busy on some days. If it does, we give the dolphins their space. We see dolphins on most trips, but as they're wild animals, we can't guarantee it.
