It is almost impossible to adequately describe the inside of the Basilica, it has to be seen! Forty columns divide the internal space into five naves and light shines in from the fifty-five stained glass windows that were started in the 4th century but not completed until the 20th century.

This Gothic cathedral has everything; rare marble, "stories" painted on the colourful stained glass windows and the children will love to "spot the ugliest gargoyle"! There is so much to keep the children enthralled that 2-hours will pass very quickly in a perfect mix of education and fun.

There is a lift to take you to the Duomo Terraces. As you walk the rooftop you can see the remarkable inter-twining of arches, flying buttresses (where rainwater is hidden), towering pinnacles and magnificent statues. At 4.16 metres high the golden statue of the Madonnina is the enduring Symbol of Milan; she looks over and protects the city.

Take a little time to sit and enjoy Milan's skyline. From the Duomo rooftop you get the best view in the city of the ancient Duomo Square and Galleria which sit side by side in perfect harmony with the city's more modern skyscrapers.
