  2. Children Of Gettysburg 1863

This interactive museum focuses on what the Civil War meant for children living through the Battle of Gettysburg. Hands-on exhibits bring their experiences to life and offer a different perspective on the town’s wartime history
  3. Jennie Wade House
15m · Admission ticket not included
This small brick home preserves the story of Jennie Wade, the only civilian killed during the Battle of Gettysburg. Visitors can see the house where she sheltered with family and the bullet hole linked to the shot that ended her life.
  4. Shriver House Museum
15m · Admission ticket not included
Once home to Hettie Shriver and her family, this restored 1863 house reveals how civilians experienced the battle. Confederate soldiers occupied the home, and sharpshooters used its upper floors during the fighting.
  5. Gettysburg Museum of History
    10m
Home to a large private collection of Civil War artifacts, this museum also displays items from later conflicts and other periods of American history. Its collection changes over time as artifacts are acquired and displayed.
  6. 10m
During the Battle of Gettysburg, this prominent courthouse became one of the many buildings turned into makeshift hospitals. Wounded soldiers were treated here as civilians and medical workers struggled to care for the thousands injured in the fighting.
  7. David Wills House
    10m
Abraham Lincoln stayed in this three-story brick home on the night before delivering the Gettysburg Address. Here, he put the finishing touches on the speech that would become one of the most famous in American history.
  8. 5m
Standing prominently in the heart of town, this historic property traces its roots back to 1797, when the site began as a tavern. Over the years, it became one of downtown Gettysburg’s best-known landmarks.
  9. Gettysburg Lincoln Railroad Station
    15m
First opened in the 1850s, the train station has been restored to how it would have looked when President Lincoln arrived to dedicate the cemetery in November 1863. During the Battle of Gettysburg, the train station was used as a makeshift field hospital for hundreds of wounded soldiers. Many of the severely injured were transported from this very station to Philadelphia or New York to receive treatment.
  10. Gettysburg National Cemetery
    10m
One entrance to the 17-acre cemetery lies along downtown Gettysburg. Here, over 3,500 Union soldiers who fell during the battle were laid to rest. In total, 6,000 American soldiers are buried here. Pay respects to the fallen and listen to Lincoln’s immortal words, “four score and seven years ago….”
