Arashiyama is one of Kyoto’s most scenic districts, offering a harmonious blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. The area is best known for its enchanting Bamboo Forest, where towering stalks create a serene and almost otherworldly atmosphere. Visitors can also enjoy the historic Togetsukyo Bridge spanning the Katsura River, charming local streets lined with shops and tea houses, and seasonal landscapes that are especially stunning during the cherry blossoms in spring and the vibrant foliage in autumn.

Rokuon-ji, more famously known as Kinkaku-ji or the Golden Pavilion, is one of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks. The temple’s top two floors are covered in brilliant gold leaf, creating a breathtaking reflection on the surrounding pond and gardens. Originally built as a retirement villa for a shogun in the 14th century, it later became a Zen Buddhist temple. The serene gardens, designed in harmony with the pavilion, offer visitors a timeless example of Japanese aesthetics, especially beautiful in each season with cherry blossoms, lush greenery, or snow.
  4. Nishiki Market
    1h 30m
Nishiki Market, often called “Kyoto’s Kitchen,” is a lively covered marketplace that has been serving the city for centuries. Stretching for about 400 meters through the heart of Kyoto, the market is lined with over one hundred shops and stalls offering fresh seafood, seasonal produce, pickles, sweets, and traditional Kyoto delicacies. Beyond food, visitors can also find kitchenware, spices, and unique local products, making it an ideal place to experience Kyoto’s culinary culture. The vibrant atmosphere and tempting aromas invite travelers to stroll, taste, and discover the flavors that have shaped Kyoto’s food traditions.
