Explore Shirakawa-go's historic Ogimachi Village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses.

Walk along the village streets and admire the steep thatched roofs, wooden houses and surrounding mountain scenery. The unique architecture reflects the region's long history and its snowy mountain climate.

Enjoy time to take photographs, discover quiet corners of the village and appreciate the peaceful rural atmosphere.

Some historic farmhouses and museums are open to visitors for an additional admission fee. These visits are optional and depend on available time and opening hours.

Shirakawa-go is a living residential community. Please respect local residents, private property and designated walking areas.

Seasonal crowds, snow, road conditions and parking restrictions may affect your visit. The exact sightseeing duration depends on the departure city and the time remaining within the 12-hour tour.

Enjoy the atmosphere of a historic Japanese mountain town and, if time permits, sample local snacks or regional specialties at your own expense.

The streets are open for independent sightseeing, while individual shops, museums and tasting venues operate according to their own opening hours.

Takayama is a secondary stop on this long-distance itinerary. Sightseeing time depends on traffic, road conditions and the departure city. For Osaka departures or during heavy congestion, the visit may be shortened or omitted.

Pickup details

Hotel pickup and return are included within your selected central Osaka or Kyoto area. The 12 hours cover all driving, breaks, sightseeing and return. After booking, send hotel name/full address, pickup time, lead name, passenger and luggage counts/sizes, phone or WhatsApp, and baby-seat or wheelchair requests. Contact us 24 hours ahead for changes; otherwise the default Shirakawa-go/Takayama route applies.

Free hotel pickup waiting: 30 minutes from booked time. Overtime: vehicles up to 14 seats JPY 5,000/hour; 18-seat Coaster and 44-seat coach JPY 10,000/hour. Night service from 22:00 to 07:00 adds JPY 2,000. One baby seat and one manual wheelchair are free upon advance request; extra baby seats cost JPY 2,000 each. Passenger and luggage limits apply. Restricted parking may require a nearby meeting point. Airports, ports, different-city drop-offs and extra stops may cost more.
